About Us

Leafield Pre-school was established in 1973 and is a registered charity run by a paid staff and a voluntary management committee. The intake of children is from the village itself and nearby rural communities. Children from the Pre-school move on to local primary schools in Leafield and the Wychwoods. The Pre-school is a short walk from Leafield Primary School.

The Pre-school is located in a purpose-built annexe at the rear of Leafield village hall. The classroom and gardens are easily accessible for all abilities.

One of our great attractions, is that we are registered with Ofsted to care for a maximum of 16 children at any one time, meaning we can offer levels of care and attention difficult to achieve in bigger settings. We offer curriculum planned play-based activities aimed at progressing children’s development and preparing them for school. We are registered and insured to care for children from the age of 2. However, we do welcome children to visit the setting before their 2nd birthday to help them become familiar with their new surroundings. Parents or carers are expected to stay with the child during these visits.

Our mission is to promote learning through play, in a stimulating, secure and caring environment, to create happy, confident, curious and creative learners. Supporting and valuing the children in our care, and our staff, as individuals, whilst providing an outstanding service and meeting the educational goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
