Our Outstanding Volunteer

June 15th, 2015

Huge congratulations to Ann Grey who, on Tuesday 21st April, won the runner up prize in the Preschool Learning Alliance’s regional award for Outstanding Volunteers in an Early Years Setting. Ann’s commitment to Leafield Preschool has spanned over 42 years. She was instrumental in setting up the Playgroup in 1973 and volunteered for many years.
The playgroup wound its way round many locations in the village; from the Old Village Hall, the Primary School (where Ann became a paid member of staff), and the Old Chapel. In 1996 Ann spearheaded a campaign to for Pre-school to have its own dedicated building at the rear of the village hall and managed the effort to raise the funds to build it. Ann gave her own time to organise meetings, assemble the workforce and co-ordinate the lease of the building. Ann’s family all assisted with the
decorating and preparing the room for Pre-school to use. Once complete Ann continued to work for Pre-school until 2008 when she retired. Since 2008 Ann has helped at the Preschool 4 mornings per week. She is enormously popular with the children, staff and parents (although the children are sometimes confused to see her working in the shop at the weekends!). Ann has been at the centre of Pre-school since its inception, she is truly inspirational and richly deserves recognition for her outstanding contribution to this cherished community facility.

Congratulations and thank you

May 20th, 2013

Congratulations to all the children who took part in Cycle Leafield at the weekend. It was a fantastic afternoon and the children had a wonderful time on bikes, on scooters and on foot.  We raised an amazing £1300 at the event, 40% of which will go to the Preschool. Please drop any sponsorship money into the preschool and we will keep you updated on our totals. Thank you everyone who came and helped on the track, serving teas, making signs and giving out water to thirsty cyclists.  All the children who took part will receive a certificate, so please keep an eye out in their trays.

Cycle Leafield 2013

April 17th, 2013

Saturday 18th May 2pm – 4.30pm. The event starts from Caterham F1’s fantastic site at Leafield Technical Centre and is aimed at all family members.  Children from local schools and preschools will cycle, scoot or walk as many laps as possible on a tarmac traffic free circuit.  There will be the opportunity to get up close to a Formula 1 car, go on a Formula 1 factory tour, make your own pedal powered smoothies, see cycle circus tricks and enjoy the bouncy castle, teas, homemade cakes, face painting and fabulous raffle prizes.  You should have received a letter and sponsorship form in your trays – if not please let Linda know.

Pyjama Walk Fundraiser

October 23rd, 2012

PSLA Quality Award

May 21st, 2012

The first two stages of the “Pre-school Quality Assurance Award” have been completed and since Easter, we have been turning our attentions to completing Stage 3.  For this, we needed to pinpoint an item at the pre-school that needs improving upon and it was decided that the Eco-garden would be ideal for this.  We will be improving the overall appearance of the garden, and increasing the numbers of flowers and vegetables grown. £150 raised at the curry night and £90 from the Bingo night will be used towards achieving this.
